Ashtanga for Beginners: An Introduction to the Eight Limbed Path

Ideal for anyone interested in learning more about the Ashtanga Vinyasa system and/or wanting to build a Mysore (self) practice.

The course will offer: 

  • A Brief overview of the history and philosophy of Ashtanga Vinyasa
  • An introduction to Tristhana: breath, drishti, bandhas/postures
  • An understanding of Vinyasa and the Sanskrit count as a method of creating a moving meditation
  • A safe and accessible breakdown of the Surya Namaskars (Sun salutations), the standing postures, and the first half of the Primary Series
  • Information on how to build and deepen a consistent practice that you can take anywhere
